This policy explains what personal data Philosotype (“we”, “us”) collects when you use philosotype.app, why, and the choices you have. We are the data controller for this site.
What we collect
- Quiz answers. The responses you give during the philosophy test, used to calculate your result. They are not tied to your identity unless you give us your email.
- Email address. If you enter it to receive your result or unlock your profile, we use it to send your result and, if relevant, occasional related emails. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Payment information. If you buy your full profile, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — we only receive confirmation of payment.
- Usage & device data. With your consent, we collect analytics and advertising data (pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location, device/browser) to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising.
Cookies
We group cookies into three kinds:
- Essential — needed for the site to work and to remember your cookie choice. Always on.
- Analytics — Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager), to see how the site performs. Only set if you accept.
- Advertising — the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel, to measure and improve our ads. Only set if you accept.
When you first visit, everything except essential cookies is switched off. Analytics and advertising run only after you choose “Accept all”. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site’s cookies in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — sending your result and follow-up emails.
- Google (Analytics / Tag Manager) — website analytics, with consent.
- Meta Platforms — advertising measurement, with consent.
- Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of the site.
We do not sell your personal data.
Legal basis (UK/EU)
We rely on: contract (to deliver the result and profile you request), consent (for analytics and advertising cookies, and marketing emails), and legitimate interests (to keep the service secure and working).
How long we keep it
We keep your email and purchase records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet our legal and accounting obligations, then delete them. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics settings. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@philosotype.app. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
